When you work your body hard, it takes time to recover. Whether through delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), injury or illness as a result of overtraining, or just plain fatigue, everybody has experienced the effects of a body in need of recovery. How fast you recover, however, is directly related to your diet, and the right diet encourages your body to recover faster and stronger.
Overtraining is one of the top reasons athletes succumb to injury, illness, and general fatigue, but in reality overtraining is the wrong word to use. A better phrase would be “under nourishing”, because overtraining is more closely related to what you feed your body during the hours you’re not exercising than how much time you spend exercising.
